Spring Clean Up - In conjunction with the Great American" Clean Up Day Program throughout Pa. and Earth Day celebration, Glassport Borough has chosen Saturday, April 26 from 8AM to Noon to clean up in the Borough.
As residents, you are requested to participate by collecting your discarded household items and garbage and take them to the dumpsters provided near the Police Station on 5th Street and Allegheny Avenue. If you cannot, please set them in the alley or street for pick up. You are asked to clean out your yards, porches and garages. We would like you to take advantage of this day.
If you are handicap or elderly, please call 412 672-7400 ext. 10 to request assistance before April 26 to get on the list for clean up day.
Computers, electronic items and TVs will also be picked up. Call before for pick up to get on that list by providing your address.
You, as Borough residents need to help us and assist your neighbors and friends by working together. Letters will be sent out to absent landlords to check on their tenants and clean up their properties. If you are aware of any conditions that need to be taken care of during Spring Clean Up Day, you are encouraged to call the Borough and give the address so we can make contact.
Any recyclables are to be clearly marked -- newspapers, cans or cardboard (folded). Hazardous materials, wood and tires need to be called into the Borough for proper disposal location and assistance.
Volunteers are to be at the Borough Building by 8:00 AM, Saturday, April 26 to represent your church, organization or as a concerned Citizen. Volunteer and Organizations showing an interest include: Lion Club, Glassport Athletic Association, South Allegheny Students, Rangers of the Assembly of God, Boy & Girl Scouts, Crime Watch, Community Development Corporations, Volunteer Junior Firemen, Borough Employees, Council Members, Waste Management, PennDot. If there are any other Companies or Organizations willing to assist, please call the office 412 672-7400 ext.10
An abundance of bags, cars, garbage, etc. detract from the community and can be a fire hazard and a nuisance -- they are violations of ordinances of the community and fines can be issued. Take advantage of this clean up -- it is free to residents.
Please make some time for your Borough -- it is time well spent and much needed -- We Care.
This will be a great clean up if you take part in it. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
